Hi all,
I am confronting a problem which is, when i play my powerpoint slides on my pc, they play really well, but when i start to record those slides during my training process with Camtasia Screen Recorder, the slides starts to get too jerky although my system is a powerful enough to handle all those stuffs. My system is Pentium 2.4 GHz and 1 GB of Physical memory. I am recording 800x 600 px screen. Anybody plz help me how can i record my powerpoint slides in its actual speed and animations during recording. Regards, Farhan Zafar |

I'll try answering this although someone more knowledgable might come along!
while in Camtasia Recorder>Tools>Options>Streams uncheck auto configure change capture frame rate to 10 or even 15 if you have substantial animation HTH |

Are the animations jerky during the capture process, or only after recording (i.e. upon playback)?
cheers, d.

they gets jerky while recording and obviously when i see the recorded video, it also shows the same result. Slides tends to be ok when not being recorded.

Sounds like CS is sucking up too much processing power. Have you tried disabling display acceleration?

well...i have tried my level best to do everything i could. I had also disabled video acceleration but still i was unsuccessful to achieve good results. You are right that Camtasia is sucking too much resources but, as far as my pc is concerned, it is powerful enough and is more than the recommended configuration needed to run camtasia smoothly.
Kindly suggest me any shortcut so i can manage to record my powerpoint slides with animations and effects smoothly. |

Does your hard drive need defragmenting?
In every system I had, I was able to run Camtasia Recorder and PowerPoint at the same time. Often there was jerkiness in the final recording regardless of how smoothly it had displayed during runtime. I typically use time-lapse capture to overcome it. I created a video about it for the Visual Lounge blog, which you can view here: http://www.techsmith.com/community/b...asp?thread=349

We had the same issue and it turned out that we had our capture frame too low 5fps. I would try raising it to 10fps+

I am recording at 15fps, with acceleration disabled. The playback while recording is fine, mine are only jerky on the recorded version when played back. Time lapse doesn't help either.
I'm using the Fly and Zoom In custom animations in Powerpoint. |

I've never seen time-lapse not help, even on wimpy systems. Try playing around with the settings (e.g. slow it down 5x instead of 3x). At some point, you'll get a smooth capture.
cheers, Daniel |
