Default fcp and ensharpen... always buggy!

Why is it that scrubbing video in FCP that is encoded with Ensharpen causes FCP to crash so often? Lately, it even seems like just playing an Ensharpen video in FCP causes a crash quite often, it's just plain unusable.

With that in mind... can someone help me figure out a workflow in FCP that DOES work? I have taken to exporting a video file out to a quicktime file encoded to the Sheer codec (uncompressed), but that is fine if I'm going to stay in NTSC... if I want to export the final back to Ensharpen, that doesn't seem like the right way to go, correct?

Anyone?

Default Ensharpen to FCP

mafacett,

I'm trying to work out a process myself. I'm using FCP5 and taking captures from windows machines using Ensharpen at 1024x768.

I find that FCP's output is always fuzzy. I'm still using the trial version and have reservations about purchasing now. Do you have any suggestions?

PS: I'm not having any crashing problems...

Unhappy

Just bought ensharpen pack and using macbook (10.5.5) and final cut pro 6.0.4 to edit 1024x768 screens. it crashes all the time and it sucks. Great codec...for PC people. The exporting workflow is not an option for me...so i have my auto save on 1 minute and edit like a 4 year old so the codec scrubbing doesn't freak out. I'm wondering if anyone has tested editing the material from a SATA drive and not an external firewire -- 400 at that....might be my problem...

cheers.

Red face Maybe fixed???? Lots of screen space needed though....

OK.

After 1000000 crashes....I seem to have gained some stability. Maybe someone can verify this.

Solution...When Canvas in FCP is set to 100 %, scrubbing back and forth and performing composites and edits works just fine....matter of fact, the crappy fuzzy resolution is gone and Ensharpen is as crisp as ever. In my case, screens are captured at 1024x768 and I am using a 23' Cinema display and a laptop...

Can anyone verify this?

Ethan
