Unhappy AVI import problems

Hi!

ok, so im pretty new with Camtasia Studio (im using version 6), but its working great.

until today, when i took a AVI file form my cam and wanted to import it, fine so far, waiting for the sound to load in, but when its full, it just crashes.

ok, i tough something was ****ed up with the file or my cam, so i took another "test" AVI file form the net (infact 2 files), same problem, this also happens when i record my screen into a AVI file.

so, does anybody know how to fix this? really annoying due that 99% of all files i work with is in .AVI format :/

please help.

Two motheds:

One: Download the final codec for your PC at Google search, delete all your pc codec and reinstall them this, and then import them again.

Two: Convert your avi files to wmv use this video converter

Theres no use to install a codec pack without knowing which codec causes the problem, that's just a shot in the dark.

AVI is a container format, which can contain all sorts of video files. Your's might contain a mpeg or mov, if it comes from a camera. Try MediaInfo, http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediainfo/ to find out which codec is used. If mpeg or mov, you might be lucky just changing the file extension.

Best regards,
Ute
