Problem Solved...
Well, I called tech support and the problem turned out that the tech smith codec creates files that are so large they cause this type of failure (the audio goes to static and sometimes even failure of the video itself), so the support technical had me download and install the free xvid codec and now all is fine.
Why on Earth TechSmith's codec doesn't do better than what it does is beyond me and I think it is something they need to fix (amoung other things with the program.) However, I am happy that it is now working.
I also have to say I am a bit disappointed with the users on this forum. You all spent far too much time worrying about copyrights instead of actually providing any help. I guess next time I won't bother posting here I will just call support. Unlike other forums for other companies and products that have people that actually help the only thing the majority of you seem to be able to do is lecture.
