Is it legal to record video tutorials without the permmission of the software company. :confused:
If so why, they seem to have so many copyright notices I thought this would be included.

Help with HTML Code w/ Camtasia Vid

Ok so I've created a video that I want in high quality. The total resolution is 1280 x 786. The problem is that on small laptops, the video will be cut off when you click play because of the height.

How do you have a smaller initial preview window? In Adobe Dreamweaver, I did a find and replace all on "1280" and "786" and changed it to 962 x 561, but now the actual volume controls have been shrunk as well, and are now difficult to read.

How do you shrink the video size display size, without shrinking the volume controls on the bottom as well?

How did Camtasia record the techsmith trainer against the white background in the Camtasia for Mac Overview video? I'd like to know how the silhouette was achieved, as well as the audio recording.

Is this something a home user of Camtasia for Mac might be able to do without great expense?

Adding block color filled objects to the timeline

What's the best way to add block color objects to the timeline?

I've seen people mentioning this elsewhere, and the only route I can find is to add an object from the 'Library', e.g. a square (but objects seem to come with a gradient by default) and to apply 'colorize' to it. However, this still inherits the gradient. Am I missing something?

Displaying Aspect Ratio in Snag-it editor

Looking for a way to have the aspect ration displayed for any picture that i am viewing. the reason being that I work with many different sized pictures for an application but all of them have to have a ratio of 1.33:1. For some reason i cannot find a way to have it display. So I always have to try to calculate it in my head from the width and height displayed.

Any suggestions? I feel i must be missing something pretty basic, but I have not been able to figure this out yet.

Recording screen doesn't line up

When recording a screen, I put the green corners around the screen I want to record, yet when I go to edit the green corner frames are inside the screen I'm recording and a lot of the screen is lost. Help

Unable to Produce video.....

I am trying to produce just a 30 second section of my video and it won't play after it goes through the produce procedure. This is what I do............
I highlight the area that I want to produce,
right-click in the time markers at the top of the time line,
select Produce Selection As in the pop-up menu,
select my custom setup
(which includes MP4/FLV/SWF, ExpressShow,
Flashoptions of FLV (I tried SWF and got the same problem)
Auto on
Frame rate: Key frame 5 seconds,
Encoding mode set to Quality at 50%.
No other video options)
Play video after production is checked.
It goes through the production procedure to 100% but does not play nor does the player display. When I check the file in the destination folder, it is a default icon. It will not open. In the past it has always been the Explorer E Icon.
I've tried to produce in different areas but get the same results. I even produced using WMV and that produced and played with no problem.
Has anyone experienced this problem? Can someone please help me on this. I have a pretty long video to produce and I don't want to waste my time if I can't get it to go.

m4v not working on iPhone

I have been producing instructional videos with Camtasia 5.1 for a couple of years. I always produce 3 file formats - html.flash, wmv and m4v. The m4v production settings say it works with the iPhone but I recently got my own iPhone and I have been unable to download any of my videos to the phone. I have tried clicking on the download link with Safari and I have tried through the iTunes URL I have gotten.

After clicking on the iTunes URL , it opens iTunes and shows the list of LibCasts. If I click on a title it starts to load but stops with the error message "the server is not correctly configured". If I click on the Free>Download link, nothing seems to happen.

The videos are on a streaming server. An example is http://videtis.ucis.dal.ca:8080/dal/...icJournals.m4v

Any help would be appreciated.

merge recordings or redo project without losing newly added markers

I am wondering if there is a way to undo what I've done. I imported a recording, then imported a second. The only difference was that I added survey questions between recordings, so I should have merged them into the same study. Alas, I didn't...

I've already added additional markers to the first recording, and I don't want to lose them. But, I would really like the recordings to be part of the same study. Is there any way to do this without losing the additional markers?

Change file location in media library

Apologies if I've missed this option, however, I'm increasingly seeing a need to update the location of a file (e.g. /Desktop/myproject/myfile.png) that is already in both the media library and on the timeline. For example, I started a project and left the media files in one main folder, but I now need to move the files to another folder, but doing so seems to break the work I've done on the timeline.

Is there something in the works? I was hoping to find the option when right-clicking on an object in the media library.
