I want to be able to make the little 400x300 box recording area follow my mouse with the mouse in the middle of the box. I have tried all i can but only way I see doing this is down grading to the last Camtasia

Have you considered using the Pan and Zoom feature.
Record your full screen and then simply use the pan and zoom.
The final area won't move as much as if you moved your mouse a great deal, but the final result usually is better.
The attention to a specific area displays better than the constant movement associated with the mouse.
At least it has for me.
