Hello All,
Every time I try producing I get an error and Producer closes. It wont get past 0%. I have tried reinstalling, multiple formats etc. The video was captured with Recorder. Any Ideas? Win 2000 OS.

Tried it in safe mode. Still wont work BUT on my reinstall I got a message that says I may have a conflict. Hmmm.

What version of Camtasia? If you don't have the current version 2.0.3, please upgrade:
http://www.techsmith.com/download/studiodefault.asp?lid=DownloadCamtasiaStudio

What version of DirectX? Find out: Start>Run>dxdiag
The Version is near the bottom of the list. If you don't have the current version 9.0b, then please upgrade:

I posted a similar problem a few months back. I believe it was during Camtasia Studio version 2.0.1. When attempting to produce a movie, I would get NO error, however, it never got past 0% and no file was created.
I have consistently been using Camtasia Studio version 1.1.1 because I'm unable to produce any movies out of Camtasia Studio 2. I recently upgraded to Camtasia Studio 2.0.3 and still have the same problem.
I sent my video files in February to tech support concerning this issue and an issue for Effects 2.0 (getting an unable to open audio stream file error message). Interestingly enough, now after I upgraded Studio (and I uninstalled and reinstalled Effects), I'm unable to open Effects. I get an error saying that the application requires a registered version of Camtasia Studio 2.0 or higher.. which I have... and I've reregistered.
As I have received no response on either issue, I'm posting on this forum again... as I can see that other people are still having similar or the same issues.

BTW, I have DirectX 9.0b.
Video Codec: TechSmith Screen Capture Codec
Audio Codec: PCM (uncompressed audio)
Audio Format: 22050Hz, 16 Bit, mono, 44KB/s

Hi All,

I know that the Producer still has a bug whereby if you select "Interleave audio every 1 Frames" rather than "every 1 Seconds" then it will GPF.

Best Regards,

Hello,

If you are not using version 2.0.3, please upgrade, since that is an ESSENTIAL upgrade.

As for the 0% production problem, what format are you producing to? What kind of content was in your video? Can you produce an AVI properly?

As for the Effects problem, were you logged in as a different user when you installed Camtasia Studio?

Thank you for using Camtasia Studio!

Thanks gspillane! That was the problem. I was trying to produce with interleaving audio every 1 frame. I changed to every 1 second and it worked (although I now have no sound - interesting, I'll have to track that down next). I didn't realize the 1 frame vs. 1 second was a known bug.

In response to TechSmith Support's question concerning the Effects error, yes it was installed by someone else - the administrator. What type of problem does that cause?

Hi, I have the same problem as others, my project will not produce. I have just installed the latest Camtasia version. In producing the .avi format video it will not get past 0%. In my project, I have 25 pictures with transitions and audio. Total time is 2 mins 31 secs.

Help would be great! Thanks.

There are 2 known problems here that might cause the production dialog to hang at 0%...

1. A crash or hang at 0% in the production progress dialog if your AVI frame rate is set to "Automatic" (the default), and you choose to interleave by frames. Thanks for reporting this bug! It will be fixed in the next release.

2. A hang at 0% in the production progress dialog if your computer runs out of memory when you start the production. There are 2 main contributing factors which cause this to happen:
a. One of the clips on your timeline has unusually large width and height. For example, images or videos with a width or height that are larger than the dimensions of a single screen (say 1280x1024). By default, the output video is sized to the largest width and height of all clips on the timeline, so that no scaling takes place and no quality is lost. The larger these dimensions, the more memory is consumed during production. So, even 1 unusually large video or image (often a digicam image) can have a big effect on memory consumption. We are trying to make improvements for a future release so that this is not a concern. For now, make sure all clips on your timeline have dimensions that are less than or equal to your screen dimensions. Keep in mind that to view your production without the quality loss caused by shrinking the video, your audience will need a screen that is at least as big as your output dimensions. So, it's a good idea to keep things as small as possible anyways to provide your audience with the best viewing experience.
b. Using transitions on your timeline. We've noted that the presence of transitions on the timeline can cause high memory consumption during production. We are looking into this further and hope to adress this problem in a future release. In the meantime, you can try removing the transitions to see if it helps get you past the 0% progress.

Hope this helps.

I have just upgraded after getting production problems and now at 2.1.2
The codec I am using is xvid (not that this matters at all happens with everything) and I get an error on clicking the finish button which comes up right away which says:
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">Error: 0x80004005 has been returned when trying to write the file.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
It use to work and I reformated C drive and now I have this problem.

Windows XP Pro 2600
DirectX 9c
Camtasia version 2.1.2

Has any one else had this problem and found a resolve other than going back to an older version (which in my view are WAY better than 2.x).

After recording my screen motion and I choose xvid avi as the output format
However the Rendering project progress bar just stayed at 0.0%.

And I noticed that the camtasia is hang/freeze likely and need to kill from task manager.

my cpu is Q6600
winxp sp2 3G ram
8800GT display card
camtasia studio 5.0.1
