Users of Camtasia Studio version 1 should be aware before they upgrade to version 2 that according to TechSmith Support you cannot import your version 1 project files. This would seem to be a major impediment for those of us that have a significant investment in version 1 files that don't play back audio correctly when it is placed on track 2. Seems like TechSmith is looking to charge for what should be a bug fix and have added insult to injury by making version 1 project files incompatible with version 2. I wonder what would happen if MS decided to bring out a version of Word that would not read or import previous .doc files? Premiere is looking better all the time!

TS support has told me they intend to fix the inability to import Camtasia Producer version 1 project files into Camtasia Producer version 2 project files (no due date is currently available). This will be a great aid to those of us that have put a lot of time into version 1 projects with track 2 audio that doesn't play back correctly.

I have been talking to TechSmith support too. They have removed the Audio Editor tool which has made it much more difficult to edit audio in version 2. You used to be able to highlight a small segment of audio and just play that. That made it easy to check audio before removing it.

They have also removed the ability to create a highlight box. All of the new CallOuts are opaque. If you make them less opaque they become somewhat see-through but the border also fades out.

I expressed concern that they have effectively removed features that were in v1 from v2. Their advise was to use v1 to edit audio and apply formatting effects and v2 for everything else. I cannot believe that this is being suggested. There are no plans as yet to fix either of these problems.

I had posted the same concerns in the basic forum. I really liked 1.1 and was excited about an even better Camtasia. I have been working for 4 days trying to get my first video done with the new release (something that used to take about 6 hours). I am close to asking for an upgrade to 1.1.1!!
Issues that I have found:
1) No upgrade path
2) Can not record audio into a seperate file (at least it is not obvious)
3) If the audio is longer than the video you have to create a bmp of a frame, save it, import it, add it, and then stretch it - 1.1.1 it was automatic
4) I can not figure out how to listen to a section of the audio
5) You can not build an individual frame in the storyboard (audio and video). You have to build the whole presentation in the timeline. That makes syncing audio a 'drinking' adventure
