View Full Version : FLV Advantages?

I'm considering upgrading to the newest version of Camtasia. I use Flash MX to create 'virtual screen captures' a lot... hand-animating the mouse movements etc entirely within Flash. I had used Camtasia's 'export as swf' feature a few times, but found that the quality and file size weren't as good as what I could acheive by hand.

I see that there's a new 'export FLV' feature now... can you tell me what the FLV export provides that is better than the export as SWF? I've never worked with FLV format, so I don't know that I quite understand the advantages...

Thanks!

Hello Drew,

FLV format is easier to import and edit within Flash MX 2004 and it also streams just as well. Also, if you have any real world video, you can produce that as an FLV and get good compression, unlike our standard SWF output which is only designed for screen capture videos.

Thank you for using Camtasia Studio!
