Hi,
upgraded to Camtasia 2.0 today and encountered a problem with the producer.
when a clip is loaded the right preview window stays black.
when the clip is dragged to the preview window it starts plyaing but when it is placed on the storyboard the playback window stays completely black.
we are running Winwods 2000 5.00.2195 Service pack 4 with Direct X 9.0a installed.
could you offer any tips on how to solve this?

Where did you get the clips you are working with? What format are they in?

The clips were new clips captured with the Camtasia recorder fm the new version, when importing clips captured with 'old' Camtasia version had same problem that clip would 'play' with black screen.
Updated the video drivers with the latest ATI release but still no
joy.

FWIW,
I put my boss onto Camtasia after he downloaded the RoboDemo demo version. My boss downloaded and used Camtasia (on April 12, 2004) but got black screens in the video he captured from our app; he did not get the black screens from RoboDemo. As a result, my boss is turned off the Camtasia product.

Just had to chime in here. I got Robo-Demo trial version first, and couldn't record voice as I was recording a video. I got Camtasia 2.0.3 that night and installed it, and could record voice as I was recording video. Last night, a salesperson from Robo called and asked how I liked it. I asked about the recording, and she said I can only record after recording the video. This morning, I bought the Camtasia key. [:D]

The app is CAD software, what is being recorded is some screen navigation. I don't really understand the hardware question--the software uses some OpenGL which is hardware or software supported, depending on the video card's capabilities ...?

Try going to Tools->Options->Capture and check "Disable display acceleration during capture." Does that help?
