I just recently upgraded to 2.0.1 (what a mistake) We use the MPEG-Layer3 codec for audio compression along with TSCC for video. We've always set the audio format at 48kbs, 48kHz, 5kb/sec. We've always gotten great compression out of this. Now when I use the same setting in 2.0.1 the file is recorded with an audio format of 128kBs, 48kHZ, 15kb/sec and the file size is totally huge! Also happens for PCM. Seems 2.0.1 records audio at the highest level available for a codec no matter what you specify. Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong? Everyone in my organization is getting the same results.

48kbps, 22.050khz, 5kb/sec is an option that is available. 48kbps, 48khz, 5kb/sec is NOT an available selection. I can not reproduce this problem. If I select 48kbps, 22.050khz, 5kb/sec, then this is what it produces at.

Can you produce a file at that setting?

Thank you for using Camtasia Studio!

Yes I can create one at 32kbps 22.050Khz, 3kb/sec. Seems to work relatively well the file size is 1,029kb. You have to have the MPEG-Layer 3 producer to get higher rates than 22.050Khz. The old Camtaisia producer produces a file at the 48kbps, 48kHz, 5kb/sec selection and creates a file that is 1,298kb in size and has crystal clear audio, the new Camtasia producer at the same setting creates a 3,392kb file that has audio that sounds as horrible as the 22.050Khz level. What I'm saying here is that it did work very, very well in the old Camtasia Studio, but no longer works correctly in the new Camtasia Studio.

sorry, this issue actually belongs in the Camtasia forum. I hadn't realized I posted this in the SnagIt forum.
