I was trying to capture several single frames of a video (.mpg) that was playing in the QT plug-in within an IE window. The movie was advanced to the desired frame by single stepping the player. Region capture to clipboard was used. The captured image is shifted to the right and the left half of the captured region is black.

If the movie is played in Windows Media Player, the capture is fine.

If the movie is played within Netscape using the same QT plugin, the capture is fine.

The OS is Windows XP Pro.

Any ideas?

In QuickTime go to Edit->Preferences->QuickTime Preferences, then go to the Video Settings section and select "Safe Mode (GDI only)."

Thank you for using SnagIt!

I am having a similar problem in windows media player-- trying to capture a single frame. It appears to work-- but when I close the WMP window, I am left with a an all-black bmp file. likewise, when I move the WMP window, the frame moves accordingly-- in the snagit prewview, in windows picture viewer or in adobe photoshop.

What am I doing wrong? Please help!
