Hi,
I'm trying to create some home-made demos for the snes.
I use for it the advanced emulator 'zsnes' in a dos version.

I was trying to capture the image of zsnes (dos) but it was impossible!
My only hope is, as always ;) , TechSmith.

Can you support guys gimme any suggestions about this?
Thx!

You can try using Full Screen DOS capture, but that might actually be more difficult than it's worth.

Can you press ALT-ENTER and view that emulator in a DOS window?

Thank you for using SnagIt!

Hi,
can you give me some hints about this 'full screen <i>dos</i> capture'?

Here some more details:
Zsnes dos (version 989c)
Video: Dos video (640x480 or 320x240: VESA2), WindowMode not supported [:(]
Video Filters: Triple Buffering, Interpolation, Super 2xSai or Super Eagle

Problem description:
1.)I try to use SnagIt 6 by 'Full Screen' capturing, but SnagIt will capture the desktop only, but not zsnes.
2.)By activating the option 'capture layered windows' I'll get a black window insted of only the desktop, but still no real image [:(]

A function of Windows that operates independently from Snagit, even when Snagit is not running, is that when a full screen DOS application is running, pressing the Print Screen key cause Windows to copy the contents of the DOS screen to the Clipboard. This functionality can be verified by closing Snagit, starting a full screen DOS application and pressing the Print Screen key. Then check the contents of the Clipboard using Windows Clipboard Viewer.

Snagit relies on this Windows function to perform full screen DOS capture. When Snagit's Input is set to Full Screen DOS and a full screen DOS program is running and the user presses the Print Screen key, Windows notifies Snagit that the Clipboard has been updated. Snagit then copies the contents of the Clipboard to the Output that is configured in Snagit.

Sometimes Windows does not perform this function correctly and places garbage characters i.e. question marks, smiley faces etc. into the Clipboard. This happens more on NT/2K/XP than W95/98. It can also happen on one DOS application and not another, and can even happen in one screen of a DOS program and not another.

When this happens the workaround is to hit ALT+ENTER in the DOS application to toggle the DOS program to run in a window. Then set Snagit's Input to Window and perform a normal Snagit screen capture of the DOS window using Snagit's regular hot keys. If the image is too small, you can scale it larger in Snagit.

If the DOS app does not display properly in a window, then Snagit is not able to capture that DOS application.
