View Full Version : Scrolling capture size vs. region size

I have been trying to capture, using Image Mode, a column from a URL, and then print the capture. (Snagit 7.02)
If I capture a region of the column, the printout is quite reasonable in size and legibility.
If I change to Custom Scroll, in order to capture the entire column, the resultant output is useless, as the column prints very in a very narrow format, and scaling won't fix it sufficiently to make it usable.
Why? Workarounds?
Everything else?
Snagit is probably configured to fit image on a single page. In Snagit select Output>Properties>Printer>Page Layout. For the Image Scale Options try Auto Scale.
Press the Help button for a description of each scaling option.

Thanks, but there's no such option. I've checked the help file, I've read and reread your message, but no go. (That option was there before, but I cannot find it in 7.02!)
When I select Output>Properties>Printer>, "Page Layout" is not there; if I click on "Properties," I get an Orientation/Page Order menu, but nothing about fitting output on a single page. Where has this been hidden?
As for Auto Scale, that does not fix the problem.
Later: Okay, I found both options, and neither (nor both) fixed the problem, as the captured material still shows as a very narrow, illegible column, on two pages.
The Page Layout option is still there. Select Output>Properties>Printer tab. Directly under the section where you define a printer is the Page Layout button.

I am puzzled by your reply, for, at the end of my previous message, I entered additional text saying that I had found the relevant location in SnagIt,and that making changes there had no beneficial effect on my output: I can get a narrow column to print on three pages with auto scrolling, but I cannot read those pages.
Again, as first stated, if I simply capture a region on the Web page in question, the output is fine, but using Custom Scroll makes the output illegible.
So, what needs to be done so that SnagIt will perform properly?
If you are not already, enable the Preview Window. After making the capture, when the image is displayed in the Preview Window, select File>Print Preview.
Does it look ok in Print Preview?

No, it looks equally bad in Preview as in printed form. In fact, it was in Preview that I first realized that something was not correct when using Custom Scroll.
I've tried changing, in Preview, the scaling, which makes things a little bit better, but no where near legible, the column continuing to be quite narrow.
Hello,
Please make sure that your filters, for the capture profile you are using, are all disabled. If you have any scaling filters enabled, it could cause this issue.
Thank you for using SnagIt!

No filters, but I have fixed it!
In Preview\File\Page Setup\Page Layout\Auto Scale.
I thought I had done that, at your direction--but as it works now, well, goody.
