Hi, I am unable to scroll a region horizontally. I tried all setting/methods described in this forum. Trying to capture a basic website that goes off the page to the right. Can you please help me? Thanks in advance.
The Vert and Horiz (both) scrolling works
The Vertical alone works
Tried these, does not work...
Scroll Region
Properties Horizontal
Tried custom/pointer on right scroll bar arow
Have...
IE 6.0
Snagit 9.0
No extensions
MS XP

Sometimes scrolling doesn't work due to the way the windows are designed. Scrolling isn't 100% effective. If you tell us the site you are having problems with we can give it a try and see.

Manny, here's a site. It's not mine, I just picked it randomly. The auto scrolling horizontally/vertically works, the region/horiz does not. That's the same with any horizontal site.

I'm able to horizontally scroll that site so it's possible. The only thing I can think of is that your horizontal region isn't exactly sized. When you select a region it needs to include the scroll bar. Is that what you did?
Here's what I was able to capture but a little reduced in size.

Hmmm, still not working for me. The auto horiz and vert scroll works, but, still not the region one, such as just the center portion of the horiz onarea all the way across. I tried also capturing the scroll bars, the entire screen. The capture seems to always stop at the width of the display dimension.
Not sure If I am supposed to, but, also I can't even drag the region across past the right side of the screen.

You aren't supposed to drag it past the right side. All you need do is to define a region on your screen that contains the window to scroll. Snagit will take care of figuring out where it ends. All it needs from you is exactly where it starts.
Give that a try.

We'll, I have also been doing that, and it does not seem work for me. I put my arrow all the way to the left side of the screen, until it cannot go any further, I then drag it all the way to the right side till it stops. The image that gets captured is only the area I dragged, at the screen size only (my region/left to right settings are set correctly). Looks like for whatever it's not working. Thanks for all of your help, anyway. I really appreciate it.

I also just uninstalled it and reinstalled it, remains the same problem. Mike

You know if works with both ways at once then it should work either way individually.
I really just need to see what you are doing. How about making a little video and attaching it here. You can either use Snagit or Jing.

Ok, here's the video, using Jing. Nice tool, thank you for telling me about it!!
In it, I show the settings, than the attempt to capture the center part of the screen dragginng to the right, but, does not let me drag any further than the right side of the screen size, and the capture only captures to the right side of the screen, not as long as the image scrolls to.

You did everything right except at the very end. You captured a tiny region instead of the whole screen.
You need to highlight the whole window that encompasses the scroll bars as you see it on the screen. But stick to the screen don't try to move beyond. Make the region similar to the red outline I show in my attachment. Once you define the region, click to make it scroll to the right. It will do it itself.
If you do want a smaller region then you can crop it later in the editor.
See if this helps

Manny, a Big Thanks for all of the patience and help you gave me to understand and work the scrolling/capture feature. The steps by steps you've given really clicked and the function is perfect for what I need. Thanks again!!
