View Full Version : Controlling the size/range of graphic visualization for audio tracks

One of the things that makes editing so easy in Camtasia is the way you can zoom in on the audio track and see a graphic visualization of all of the sounds that make up the words in your speech. If you zoom in enough, you can isolate a word visually by recognizing the shapes that correspond to the words before and after the word that you are interested in, for example.

What is frustrating me is that in the first project I created in Camtasia, by zooming in on the audio track as much as possible I could see large representations of each of the sounds. But in each project that I have created subsequently, the shapes have been smaller, even at full zoom.

I don't know if this is my imagination or if I inadvertently changed a setting that affects the graphical display of the audio information on the audio track.

Besides the zoom feature (ctrl+plus or ctrl+minus), is there any other tool which might affect the size of the audio visualizations? The only feature I have discovered which provides more space for the audio track is to use the "Tracks" dropdown menu on the Timeline to turn off the display of as many other track features as possible (i.e. Callout, Markers, Zoom-n-Pan, Quiz, etc).

Initially I suspected that the audio is represented in a different graphical manner for voice narrations than for regular screen recordings but I have subsequently done some tests to show that this does not seem to be the case.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
